Sewing Circle
A special exhibit just opened at the Lancaster Museum of Art located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on August 4th and will run through September 9th. The Fiber National exhibit highlights the best work of contemporary fiber artists from across the US. Some pieces are two dimensional, and some are 3D. The artists used variety of materials and techniques.

I've been to Lancaster a couple of times. It's a great area for handcrafts. There are lots of little shops around that sell beautiful quilts!

To the Point
August is a good time for starting new things and looking to the future as kids prepare to head back to school for another year of work and studying. It's also time to get serious about planning holiday gifts. A personalized embroidered gift is so heartfelt and meaningful. I love cross stitch Christmas stockings. Shepherd's Bush has a series of designs and releases a new one each year. See the complete Shepherd's Bush stocking list on the ALC Unlimited website. I haven't heard what the new one is for 2007 yet, but it should be released soon. When you are ready, you can find instructions on how to finish a stocking on my embroidered Christmas stocking page.

Words of Wisdom
Crazy people who are productive are geniuses.
Crazy people who are rich are eccentric.
But crazy people who are neither productive nor rich are just crazy.

Find of the Month
The special free pattern this month is unique! It's a pincushion made from a glove. You can use an old odd glove that you have, or take advantage of a pair of garden gloves on sale and make a second pincushion to "lend a hand" to a friend. The model glove is embellished with ribbon embroidery, but you could adapt it to any other style or combination of methods. Use waste canvas if you need an even grid to work on.

You'll have to scroll down a little to get to the real instructions, but I still chose this pattern because I thought it was a neat idea.

You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you.
The most interesting feedback will be shared in next month's issue!

Happy Stitching,
Amy Conaway
