Sewing CircleThis month's featured embroidery is by Emel from Turkey. Her daughter Yasemin shared the photos and story. Aren't they gorgeous?Reminder: Subscribe to the Embroidery Blog for the most up to date news and website additions. www.embroidery-methods.com/sign-up To the PointDid you know about the embroidery poetry contest we held? I would have mentioned it in last month's newsletter, but I didn't learn about May Giveaway Day 2010 until three days before it started! This is the winning poem from that was submitted by Andrea:In and out the stitches soar, Floss in strands of 3 or 4, Leaving behind a trail that will be, Something magnificent for all to see. Embroidery is a pleasant art, That leaves its patterns on your heart. Stories told by intricate design, I'm so thankful for this craft of mine! Everyone who participated in the contest won a free downloadable pattern. Stay tuned to the Embroidery Blog so you don't miss any future surprises! Words of WisdomWhen life throws you scraps, make a quilt.Find of the MonthGet ready for the 4th of July with an applique flag print provided by Floresita. It's a vintage transfer design that was star pattern! If you're located outside of the United States, this embellishment idea will work with any favorite printed fabric. The embroidery can be done by hand or machine applique. If stitching by machine, use the free motion embroidery technique, which works on any regular sewing machine. Cut out your favorite applique print fabric for the design and attach it to a piece of clothing. It suggests using Sulky Holoshimmer Metallic Thread in the red, white, and blue multicolor. See my website for applique help and techniques. You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you. Amy Conaway |
