Sewing Circle
As you clean out the supply closet, you might find an old machine or supplies you know you will never use. Turn your trash into someone else's treasure by donating to The Sewing Machine Project. This charity was recently featured on the PBS series Sewing with Nancy. They pass on materials to those who have been affected by disasters, and they have the recipients pay it forward by volunteering in their communities. What a great idea!

Also, today is Fiber Day at the Cyber Fyber exhibition in Columbia, SC. Watch Susan Lenz's Cyber Fyber blog for news and photos from the event.

To the Point
One of my New Year's rituals is to organize my supplies again. They always need it after the holiday crafting season.

I wrote a new page for the website about organizer systems. You need a thread organizer to carry with the project you're working on, and a way to manage the extra threads and patterns for future projects. For some people, a small sandwich bag works fine, but serious embroiderers may want something like DMC's Stitchbow system.

Words of Wisdom
"It's kind of fun to do the impossible." ~ Walt Disney

Find of the Month
This time I have a beautiful lacy Hardanger bookmark to share. It was designed by Julie Norton for Caron. In the middle of the page you will see links to a chart and photo. I love the multicolor threads! Caron Wildflowers are variegated threads that come in a single strand of hand-dyed cotton.

You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you.

The most interesting feedback will be shared in next month's issue!

Happy Stitching,
Amy Conaway
