Sewing Circle
The National Counted Cross Stitch Show at Rockhome Gardens in Arcoloa, IL will take place from June 15 to 24. It is the largest show of its kind! The national show emphasizes cross stitch but other embroidery methods will be represented by the designers and manufactures. For more information, visit: http://www.embroidery-methods.com/national-cross-stitch-show-2007

It's a little too far for me to attend (I live in Maryland), but if anyone goes, please share your experiences with us!

To the Point
Are you planning to make a wedding cross stitch, or something similar like an anniversary present or baby shower gift?

Regardless of the embroidery method you use, make it extra personalized to make it extra special. Use symbols that are meaningful to the couple. If possible, coordinate colors to match the room where the finished embroidery will hang. Include the recipients' names and the date. Be sure to include your name somewhere, too, so they remember who made the gift for them!

Words of Wisdom
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That's why we call it the present.

Find of the Month
TThe special free pattern I found to share with you this month is patriotic -- I wanted to give you a chance to have it finished by the 4th of July! http://www.embroidery-methods.com/statue-of-liberty

I chose it because it uses counted cross stitch, in honor of the upcoming national show. I also think it is more interesting than just a plain flag since it has a nice Statue of Liberty. I like the detail on her. You could do Lady Liberty without the flag behind her, if you wanted to, and put something else... like fireworks! I would do fireworks with broken backstitches in metallic floss such as the DMC Light Effects. Happy 4th of July!

You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you. The most interesting feedback will be shared in next month's issue!

Happy Stitching,
Amy Conaway
