The Embroidery Sampler, Issue #48, April 2011 -- Embroidered Baby Clothes, Needlepoint Easter Egg April 10, 2011 |
| Greetings! Sew Many Threads to Follow, One Monthly Newsletter April 10, 2011Table of Contents
Sewing CircleOur huck towel kit winners were announced. Thank you for participating! Instead of a contest this month, I listed some special linen fabric on the blog. If you make Shepherd's Bush Christmas stockings or want to resell some linen and earn yourself a profit, please hurry on over to my blog!April's featured artist is Artvani from Banagalore, Karnataka, India. She made these dimensional embroidery flowers with Brazilian embroidery stitches, but she did not have any rayon thread so she used cotton perle. I love the way it looks with the variegated thread. Great idea! Reminder: Subscribe to the Embroidery Blog for the most up to date news and website additions. www.embroidery-methods.com/sign-up To the PointI recently attended a baby shower for a friend, so I'm thinking about embroidered baby clothes. Embroidery smocking looks great on children and is an easy way to add shaping. If you make any sort of baby crochet clothes or toys it's best to use embroidery for the eyes or decorations. Beads can pose a choking hazard for children under age 3.Words of Wisdom"I like making a piece of string into something I can wear." ~Author UnknownFind of the MonthI have two free embroidery patterns for you this time! Here's an adorable baby birth announcement with tiny footprints in cross stitch and a poem. Also, here's a needlepoint crazy quilt Easter egg from Rainbow Gallery that comes as a .pdf file. I wish you many blessings and a Happy Easter! You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you. Amy Conaway |
