This is a very popular event with stitchers attending from around the world. On August 28-30, 2008, it will be held at The Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. To register, visit the Embroiderers' Guild of America website. The EGA also hosts an annual seminar. The 2008 seminar will be held in Louisville, KY from August 31, 2008 through September 5, 2008.

If you can't wait that long and happen to be traveling on the East Coast, the Delmarva Needle Art Show & Competition is going on now. It runs from September 1, 2007 to October 31, 2007 at the Julia A. Purnell Museum in Snow Hill, Maryland. The exhibit features regional needle art including quilts, embroidery, cross stitch, knits, crochet, and more. Visitors can cast votes for the viewers' choice award. Admission for adults is $2, and for children ages 5 to 12 it's only $0.50. To the Point
Do you like to use hand painted needlepoint canvas but find the designer price tags out of your budget? Make your own! It's easier than you think. You can hand paint a canvas or you can use your printer to make a decal then apply it to the canvas. Visit the painted needlepoint canvas page for detailed instructions about how to do either method. No more complaints about having trouble finding the right design!

Words of Wisdom
The days of good English has went.

Find of the Month
The special free pattern this month comes from a website based in England. It's a contemporary needlework design that shows off the painted canvas. You get to experiment with color variations and blending, too! The stitching is simple and easy since the colors are the main feature. I chose this pattern because I love to play with color and experiment.

You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you.
The most interesting feedback will be shared in next month's issue!

Happy Stitching,
Amy Conaway
