Sewing Circle

The featured embroidery on the homepage this month is a punch needle peacock by Anastasia W. in Sri Lanka. She got the design from an Indian magazine and used lots of bright colors to make a wall hanging for a children's room.

To the Point

I receive a lot of questions about where to find embroidery patterns with specific subjects. Depending on the type of embroidery method that you are using, you might already have the pattern you need. Crewel embroidery and punch needle embroidery can be stitched on plain outlines. Look for coloring book pages or overhead outlines and transfer it to the fabric to make your own free pattern! I have more instructions about searching and how to transfer patterns on my website.

Words of Wisdom

"A #6 aluminum needle has been known to furnish an excellent emergency shearpin for an outboard motor." ~Elizabeth Zimmerman

Find of the Month

So now you know how to find any type of pattern, but I will still share a pattern specifically designed for punch needle so you can see how simple it is. This is a pattern for a small punch needle rug that would be great for playing with dolls or to decorate a small table.

You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you.
