| Greetings! Sew Many Threads to Follow, One Monthly Newsletter December 10, 2010Table of Contents
Sewing CircleThe featured embroidery for December is a winter patchwork heart done in cross stitch by Nima from Oman. She plans to quilt it into a pillow or table runner. Beautiful work! And this news doesn't directly involve embroidery, but you might also be interested in seeing a quilt I helped make. It will be raffled off as a fundraiser for a little girl born with a congenital heart defect. Can you think of a way to get some of your own friends and co-workers together to use your talents to help someone in your community? The most frequent problem that I have are threads I find on the back that did not pull tight because they were twisted or because I didn't pull hard enough. They become a bigger problem when they loosen and cause loose stitches on the front or when I run a later stitch through them and cause a tangle. The solution is to find that perfect balance of thread tension. I have to be sure I pull the thread through, but I can't pull it so tight that the fabric becomes distorted. It also helps me to check the back of my work after every couple of stitches. If I have to go back to fix something, at least it won't be too far or too much time wasted! Words of Wisdom"The Amish deliberately put a mistake in every quilt to honor the fact that no human is perfect." ~ from The Renaissance Soul by Margaret LoberstineFind of the MonthSince the Wise Men brought three gifts to Bethlehem, here are three free patterns from Krenik this month! There's a holographic ornament that uses metallic thread, a mini cross stitch Christmas stocking with a gorgeous vine design, and ideas for decorating an embroidered hat although you could also use the same concept to decorate a purse. You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions.
