Sewing Circle

The featured embroidery artist for January is... me! I decided to decorate the homepage with my wreath made of embroidery supplies.

To the Point

Redwork embroidery began as a cheaper hobby in the Victorian age because the red cotton thread was less expensive than silk. It's still more budget friendly to make monochromatic embroidery designs, but now you can choose any color cotton thread for just about the same price. To find good patterns, look for designs that look nice as a black and white outline with plenty of spaces between the lines.

Words of Wisdom

"You can't change the past, but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future." ~Author Unknown

Find of the Month

This month's free embroidery pattern is a set of paisley hearts that can be embroidered using the redwork or crewel methods. I think they look very elegant.

You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you.
