Sewing Circle

I received several compliments on the bunny and hyacinth cross stitch pattern shared in last month's newsletter. If you made it, please share a photo.

The featured needlework on the homepage this month is a hardanger potpourri sachet stitched by Georgina as a gift for Avapi in Greece. Isn't it pretty? What a special way to show a friend you care!

To the Point

There are only two basic huck weaving stitches. The darning stitch is most common. You can do it by simply sliding the needle and thread under the 2 threaded floater loop. The other type of stitch is the around the loop stitch, which wraps the floater. This provides more color and can be used as an accent with the basic darning stitch. To do huck embroidery, start in the center of the design with the thread centered and secured by a lark's head knot, then stitch out each end.

Words of Wisdom

"The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love colour the most." ~ John Ruskin; English Romantic Writer and Painter, 1819-1900

Find of the Month

Here's a colorful ribbon flower bouquet worked in silk ribbon embroidery with excellent instructions.

You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions. Just reply to this newsletter and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear from you.
