| Greetings! Sew Many Threads to Follow, One Monthly Newsletter March 10, 2010Table of Contents
Sewing CircleThe 2010 Winter Olympics are over, but the 2010 Embroidery Olympics will take place in August. They're held every 4 years just like the regular games, but these games involve digital machine embroidery. This year's event will take place in the Kentucky or Tennessee area. The exact location and dates are still to be decided, but they are accepting team entries and judge applications! The needlework displayed on the homepage this month is by Flora from India. She loves to stitch flowers and shared a crewel satin stitch flower she embroidered on a handkerchief. The long stitch and short stitch are used for beautiful shading of the bright colors. Take a look! Reminder: Subscribe to the Embroidery Blog for the most up to date news and website additions. www.embroidery-methods.com/sign-up To the PointDid you know that there are sewing aids for the special needs of seniors and those with vision problems? Just because you're having trouble seeing doesn't mean you have to stop doing embroidery. Buy a clip on magnifier or a special light that comes with a magnifier attached. You can also try using patterns with an easier fabric count. A smaller count number means larger holes, so cross stitch on size 8 Aida is much easier than size 22, but of course the patterns will not be as detailed. Another option is to try a new embroidery method!Words of WisdomInch by inch, life's a cinch. Yard by yard, life's too hard.Find of the MonthI'm ready for spring! Here's a cute little cross stitch rabbit pattern with a pink hyacinth. You're Invited: Please share your stitching stories, ideas, words of wisdom, find of the month, or questions.
