Embroidering a Tied Ribbon Bow

by Anonymous

How do I embroider a tied ribbon bow, giving the effect of the tied bow loops? I suppose it would be dimensional.

Amy's Answer
Are you talking about silk ribbon embroidery? If so, take a length of ribbon and sitch it through the center of where you want the bow. Find the middle of the ribbon length and tie a bow. To keep it in place, take some fine sewing thread that's the same color as the bow ribbon, and do one small stitch through all of the layers in the middle where it's tied. To keep the bow loops from drooping, you can also tack the loops at the upper corners on the lower hidden part of the ribbon loop.
