Embroidery Patterns and Punch Needle Patterns

by Pam
(Leesburg)

I am very involved with punch needle. Could you please tell me if punch needle can be used with all the embroidery patterns? Also, where is a good source of bulk weavers cloth and aida cloth?

Thank you very much. Pam

Amy's Answer
Punch needle patterns typically consist of outlined shapes to fill in with the punch needle stitches. Coloring book designs are a great source for free embroidery patterns.

Embroidery patterns that are designed to be stitched on an evenweave grid, such as aida cloth, usually will not look right as punchneedle, so stay away from cross stitch and hardanger patterns.

Please share some photos of your punch needle, Pam. We'd love to see what you've made!

As for the fabric, Natural Weaver Cloth is best for punch needle.
