Ending a Thread in Reversible Embroidery
What is the best way to end a thread in reversible embroidery? I am embroidering a pashmina in a celtic heart pattern, just using double running stitch, and I am not satisfied with any of the methods for ending that I've tried. I would be grateful for any tips.

Yes, it is a tricky art. I have not inspected them personally, but I have read that in authentic Renaissance era blackwork it's impossible to tell where the ends are. They stitched them very carefully and used a thin wax coating to keep the treads neat and in place!
So to mimic the great masters, overlap the end of the double running stitch. If you want to be very subtle, carefully trim the end so that it tapers gradually. Coat it with some thread wax such as the Dritz Beeswax with Holder
to keep the fibers together so the cut ends don't turn into a fuzzy fray.
