Hardanger Patterns to Love

I enjoy looking at photos of Hardanger patterns, especially the really intricate ones I doubt I will ever be able to accomplish!

Here are some books I've borrowed from the library before. It was more to admire the photos than to actually make anything. Maybe someday I will dare to tackle something bigger than ornaments and bookmarks.

If you like to sew cutwork embroidery, please share a photo of a piece you made using your favorite Hardanger pattern. Tell us why you chose to make it and how long it took to stitch and cut.

I think that this type of embroidery is fun to present because it has holes like lace. If you are mounting it in a greeting card or in a frame as a wall hanging, you need to be sure to consider the background color. The stitches such as the eyelet can be used as an accent with other embroidery styles, but you always need to consider that the holes are see-through. They can be highlighted with contrasting color background, or you can make the holes more subtle by using similar shades. Take note of the choices made in presenting the patterns below.
