Use a Project Journal to Record Your Work
Many people would love to have a project journal with all of their notes and photos of what they've made. What's the best way to make a journal? It's easier than you think!
I keep what I like to call my "Completed Project Notebook."
How I do it:
- I photograph all of my finished projects with my digital camera.
- I insert a photo into a Word document, and type my notes around it. I note changes I made to the pattern, things I want to try doing differently, and the dates it was started and completed. I also note who I gave it to if it was a gift for someone.
- I print the page and glue on fiber samples. The samples make up for any color distortion in the photo. I make sure that I have included the floss number, fabric color, and manufacturers in my notes.
- The printed page goes into a page protector in a 3 ring binder that contains pages of all my projects.
It's great to have a book like this, especially if you've given things away as gifts, because you can just pull one book out to show your friends what you've made. It's much easier than pulling things off walls and digging them out of the closet!
