Punchneedle Loops

by Nancy Fox
(Ocala, FL)

How do I keep the punchneedle loops to stay on the right side? Every time I pull the needle back to make another stitch, the first one comes out.

Amy's Answer
That happens when the thread in the needle isn't loose enough. Check that there's nothing caught on the other end of the thread. You can't work from a ball or skein; it must be loose! Use a 12-18 inch length of thread to start.

What kind of fabric material should I use with a punch needle?

Amy's Answer
Look under the "Fabric" heading about halfway down the punch needle thread and supplies page.
