Redwork Subjects

by Lenore Aulenbach

I am in the process of making redwork squares for a quilt. I have already completed 5 of the six pictures of my siblings. Each picture depicts them doing something I remember. I also have a picture of a couple (my Mom and Dad) now I am looking for pictures of a house, church and dogs. These are to be our home we grew up in and our church along with 2 dogs we had. I want to combine these squares into a memory quilt. If there are any books that have these subjects in I would appreciate the info. Thanks.

What a great idea! That will be an extra special quilt. For redwork, you can use almost any basic line drawing. I suggest doing a search for coloring pages or outlines. The hardest part will be finding the right style. You can also explore the Redwork Embroidery Books on Amazon to look for the design you need. Good luck on your memory quilt and please share a photo when it's done!

Redwork Memory Quilt
by: Judy from Michigan

I was wondering if you could take a picture of your childhood home and take it to your local copy store and have it enlarged then trace it onto your background fabric. Redwork is all back stitch and outlining. Just a thought, not sure if it will work or not but worth thinking about.
