What is the Pueblo stitch?

I have a kit I purchased in the late 1980's (Spring Barn by Barbara Jennings) and it has no directions for the pueblo stitch. I have been unable to find the directions anywhere else. Thanks for your help.

Amy's Answer
There are hundreds of embroidery stitches and sometimes even the same stitch will have multiple names. I did some investigating and found the Pueblo stitch for you! It has a very interesting history as a stitch unique to the Pueblo Native Americans in New Mexico and Arizona.

Basically, it is a backstitch variation with two loosely twisted threads that are split on the stitch. You can find Pueblo stitch instructions here with an illustration, but you need to scroll down to find Pueblo (opens in a new window).
